Purpose of the role

  • Develop and implement the Environmental Management System for the Business Unit, along with and aligned to the MIMS (Mexico Integrated Management System) and IFC.
  • Creating and monitoring the procedures and processes required to build an efficient execution in our operations.
  • To ensure compliance with local regulations of Government authorities.
  • Integrate o the Business Unit the corporate Functional requirements.
  • To be involved in the ESG (Environmental Social Governance) Strategy to develop the GHG emissions reduction plan for the Business Unit.

Critical Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the integral management of local and national permits that are required to be in compliance with environmental regulations applicable to the BU operations (PROFEPA, SEMARNAT, CONAGUA, ASEA, etc).
  • Lead and supervise the execution of yearly environmental objectives.
  • Definition and monitoring of Environmental KPI´s (KEPI)
  • Annual Plan to conduct environmental campaigns.
  • Follow up of the requirements of the Government authorities and applicable legislation and regulations.
  • Plan of Environmental training to employees.
  • Create the mechanism to communicate the Environmental Strategy to all employees, c Participate in field/offices audits and inspections.
  • Support the continuous improvement of the HSEQ Management System according to corporate directives and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Collaborate in the execution of environmental impact assessments of all locations/assets operated and non-operated.
  • Assessing the existing or potential environmental impact of land use projects on air, water, and land. Delivering the action Plan related to mitigate the environmental impacts.
  • Identification of resources to guarantee the compliance with the Environmental Management System. contractors, stakeholders, partners, communities.
  • Follow up on the corporate environmental strategy and requirements.
  • Collect and analysis of environmental data of all assets in the Business Unit: GHG emissions, water and electricity consumption, waste management.
  • Ensure and supervise the environmental data report annually in the database SoFi for all operated and non-operated assets.
  • Perform the Environmental and Sustainability assessment in Projects DG (Decision Gate) for operated and non-operated assets.
  • Improving environmental conservation management, including recycling, public health, and water and air pollution.
  • Identify critical research areas such as renewable energy, climate change, and food and water security.
  • Develop, implement, and manage plans and programs related to conservation and management of natural resources.

  • Environmental Laws and regulations for Hydrocarbon sector

  • Knowledge of NORMs ISO 14001 / ISO 45001

Critical Skills, Qualifications, Experience

  • B.S. in Engineering, Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, Environmental.
  • Master´s Degree in Environmental preferred
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the E&P industry, federal authorities or independent consultants.
  • Proven experience in managing environmental permits and licenses.
  • Experience in Integrated Management Systems for Oil and Gas Industry.
  • More than 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry (operations and HSEQ areas are mandatory.
