Purpose of Role:
Provide internal communications counsel and delivery for the Corporate HR team to support the function’s strategy and objectives.
Critical Responsibilities (MAE/MATTE/HSES*):
Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.
Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:
Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:
- Develop and deliver the communications plan for the Corporate HR function, based on an in-depth understanding of the function’s objectives and through strategic relationships with the HR Leadership Team (HRLT), including regular attendance at HRLT meetings.
- Act as trusted communications advisor to the Chief HR Officer (CHRO) and members of the HRLT, providing counsel on issues, projects and content.
- Work with the VP Global Internal Communications and other members of the Corporate Internal Comms team on global projects, campaigns and issues involving the HR function.
- Manage the HR function’s communications activity and plans and ensure alignment with the Corporate Internal Communications strategy, principles, campaigns and messaging.
- Write communications materials on behalf of the CHRO and other members of HRLT.
- Develop and manage the communications plan and delivery for the HR annual cycle of activities (e.g. performance, benefits).
- Work closely and collaboratively with the business unit communications teams across the company, advising on HR comms issues and projects.
- Develop and oversee an annual content plan for HR, writing content for the corporate internal communications channels. Manage content for the HR site on the intranet.
- Monitor and measure the impact of the HR function’s communications activities using the Corporate Internal Comms team’s approach and tools.
- Support with the running of internal communications events for the HR function.
- Play a key role in the Corporate Communications emergency response work, including taking part in exercises, responding to incidents, which may require working at weekends/evenings from time to time.
- Participate in any other activities which the Communications team may reasonably require.
- The majority of the role is focused on function to business communication, with some support provided for communication within the HR Function e.g. village halls.
Critical Skills*, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:
- Degree-level education in communications or related subject or a journalism qualification.
- Significant internal communication experience in global, matrix organisations, preferably in a comms business partnering role. Experience in a listed company is preferable.
- Proven experience in delivering global communications plans in support of corporate function programmes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex content into engaging, clear communications.
- Experience in managing and influencing a wide range of senior stakeholders to reach alignment and desired outcomes.
- Experience of working across different communication channels (face to face, digital etc) and understanding of optimum channel mix.
- Strong team player, with proven experience of working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience of managing multiple activities with competing timelines.
- Ability to navigate situations where there is uncertainty or ambiguity.
- Ability to work at pace to deliver to tight deadlines.
