Purpose of Role:
Supporting the Insurance Manager to ensure the Company maintains appropriate insurance to cover its insurable assets and liabilities, in accordance with good oilfield practice and in compliance with relevant regulation, law or statute.
Critical Responsibilities (MAE/MATTE/HSES*):
Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.
Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:
Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:
- Support the development and management of the company’s insurance programs, ensuring adequate coverage for operational, property, liability, corporate and other risks
- Conduct detailed risk assessments to identify insurance needs and recommend appropriate coverage options
- Supporting the relationships with insurance brokers and underwriters to negotiate the best possible terms and conditions for insurance policies
- Help support the timely and effective management of insurance claims, liaising with internal and external parties as necessary
- Ensure insurance policies and practices comply with relevant regulations and industry standards, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of legal requirements
- Regularly review insurance policies and market conditions to identify opportunities for cost savings or enhanced coverage
- Work closely with finance and legal departments to align insurance strategies with corporate finance and risk management objectives
- Collaborate closely with Business Units to ensure insurance strategies align with corporate insurance management objectives
Critical Skills*, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:
- Bachelor’s degree in risk management, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- FCII qualification or studying towards (preferred)
- Experience of the offshore energy insurance market (preferred) or a related sector with significant operational and financial risks
- Detailed knowledge of Liability, Indemnity and Insurance regimes in Energy contracting (preferred)
- Strong negotiation skills, with a track record of securing favourable insurance coverage and terms
- Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to stakeholders
- Team player with strong co-ordination skills and interdisciplinary experience
