Purpose of Role:
The Pensions Lead role for Germany at Harbour Energy is a pivotal role within the HR Total Reward team, dedicated to managing and optimising pension and retirement plans for employees in Germany. This role is critical for ensuring that Harbour Energy's pension schemes are competitive, compliant with German regulations, and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives within the oil and gas industry.
Critical Responsibilities (MAE/MATTE/HSES*):
Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.
Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:
Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:
- Pension Scheme Management: Oversee the administration and management of the current and legacy German pension schemes, ensuring they are competitive, compliant, and effectively meet the needs of the workforce.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all pension schemes comply with German pension legislation, including Betriebsrentengesetz (BetrAVG) and other relevant regulations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the main point of contact for pension providers, regulatory authorities, and employees regarding pension enquiries and issues.
- Financial Oversight: Monitor and manage the financial performance of pension funds, working closely with finance and external fund managers.
- Employee Communication: Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance employees' understanding of their pension benefits and options.
- Benefit Design and Review: Continuously review current and legacy retirement benefits to ensure they remain competitive and aligned with company strategy.
- Policy Development: Contribute to the development and updating of pension policies and procedures to reflect changes in legislation or company strategy.
- Training and Development: Deliver training sessions and materials to HR and management on pension regulations and best practices.
Critical Skills*, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:
- Academic Qualifications: Degree or relevant field experience; further education or certifications in HR preferred.
- Relevant Experience: Extensive experience in pensions management, specifically within the German market, ideally in the oil and gas industry or similar sectors. Experience with SAP SuccessFactors preferred.
- Language Skills: Fluency in both German and English is essential.
- Knowledge of German Pension Legislation: Deep understanding of German pension laws and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.
- Strategic Planning and Financial Acumen: Strong strategic planning skills and financial acumen to manage pension schemes effectively.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex pension information in a clear and accessible manner.
