Purpose of Role:

  • Geologist within a multi-disciplinary subsurface team
  • Building competencies according to Graduate Training Programme guidelines
  • Deliver opportunities for production enhancement and resource additions through subsurface characterisation, reservoir geological modelling and opportunity generation & maturation.
  • Support well planning & delivery programmes

 

Critical Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures

 

Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required

 

Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:

  • Responsible for geological interpretation and mapping/modelling of subsurface opportunities using well logs, core, seismic and other relevant data, under the supervision of a senior geology mentor
  • Identify, mature and deliver opportunities for production enhancement and resource growth.
  • Focus on development of core skills and competencies in accordance with the Graduate Training Programme

Daily tasks may include:

  • Well log analysis and correlations.
  • Creation of predictive subsurface geological maps.
  • Structural and stratigraphic seismic interpretation.
  • Construction of structural framework models.
  • Reservoir characterisation and geological modelling.
  • Volumetric assessment.
  • Risking and resource uncertainty modelling.
  • Well planning and operational support.
  • Monitoring and assisting with specialists and contractors to manage geological analysis projects.
  • Geological aspects of internal/external business approvals (Internal/Partners/OGA etc.).
  • Any other reasonable duty as per instruction by your manager

 

Critical Skills, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:

Core Technical Experience

  • Entry level technical competency
  • Work on routine projects in area of responsibility with appropriate mentor/expert support
  • Able to deliver sound basic subsurface characterisation using general geological interpretation techniques, under close supervision
  • Building knowledge of industry software packages, particularly Petrel
  • Building knowledge of geological aspects of the well planning process
  • Building competency in geological and related skills

Qualifications

  • MSc in a Geoscience subject, or relevant PhD.
