Senior Geologist

Purpose of Role:

• To provide geoscience technical support to assets to which they are seconded and in corporate quality assurance & mentoring as required
• To identify and promote learning and new technology that may open opportunities for added value in other Harbour Energy assets, operated and non-operated.

Critical Responsibilities (MAE/MATTE/HSES*):

• Ensures all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.

Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.

Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:

• Perform integrated geological evaluations to support reservoir management, production optimization, and field development activities in the Ogarrio Field.
• Identify, evaluate, and mature drilling, recompletion, stimulation, and waterflood opportunities through integrated geological, petrophysical, production, and seismic analyses.
• Collaborate closely with Geophysics, Reservoir Engineering, Production, and Drilling teams to maximize asset value.
• Support drilling operations and well workover activities, including geological interpretation, mudlogging, LWD evaluation, and post-well assessments.
• Support static model updates, reserves evaluations, and multidisciplinary subsurface studies.
• Prepare technical documentation and regulatory submissions to SENER and support interactions with the Operator, Partners, and regulatory authorities.

Critical Skills*, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:

Technical Skills

• Strong experience in reservoir characterization and development geology of mature oil fields.
• Expertise in well correlation, log interpretation, structural mapping, and reservoir characterization in turbidite systems.
• Experience integrating geological, petrophysical, seismic, and production data.
• Working knowledge of Sigma log interpretation and reservoir saturation monitoring.
• Experience supporting waterflood, stimulation, and drilling projects.
• Proficient in Petrel and standard subsurface software applications.

Non-Technical Skills

• Able to make reasoned perceptive interpretations that integrate all available data in data sparse situations while remaining open-minded about alternative scenarios and willing to listen to suggestions and new ideas.
• Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency but also a strong team player who can work closely with and co-ordinate other disciplines.
• Effective discipline mentor and technical reviewer.
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Awareness of commercial issues as well as purely technical ones.

Professional Experience

• Minimum 10 years of experience in Geology within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Experience in mature field development and production optimization, including integrated subsurface evaluations of turbidite reservoirs and support for drilling, waterflood, stimulation, and field development activities.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary subsurface teams and joint venture environments.
• Desirable: knowledge of SENER regulatory requirements and reporting processes.  

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geosciences, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Master's Degree in Geosciences, Petroleum Geology, Reservoir Characterization, or a related field is desirable, but not mandatory.

Language

• English: Intermediate B1 level (written and spoken).
• Spanish: Native.
