Purpose of Role:
•    This role is tasked with overseeing environmental HSES compliance and advisory for well operations within the Kan department, ensuring all practices align with corporate standards and local regulatory requirements.
•    The HSES Environmental Advisor will facilitate the integration of environmental sustainability measures into well operations, driving improvements and ensuring adherence to environmental protection standards.
•    By collaborating with other departments and external stakeholders, this role enhances the business unit's ability to meet its environmental commitments and supports the broader corporate strategy of sustainable development.

 

Critical Responsibilities (MAE/MATTE/HSES):

•    Ensure all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.
•    Develop and implement HSES strategies and policies specific to well operations that mitigate environmental risks and ensure compliance with local and international standards.
•    Conduct regular HSES audits and risk assessments to identify potential environmental impacts associated with well operations, recommending corrective actions as necessary.

 

Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:    

•    Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.

 

Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:

Regulatory Compliance
•    Ensure that all well operations comply with environmental laws and regulations.
•    Obtain necessary environmental permits and manage regulatory reporting requirements.
•    Monitor changes in environmental legislation and adjust company policies accordingly.
Environmental Risk Management
•    Identify and evaluate environmental risks associated with well operations.
•    Implement and oversee environmental impact assessments and mitigation strategies.
•    Prepare contingency plans for environmental emergencies associated with well operations.
Stakeholder Engagement

•    Act as the primary HSES contact for environmental issues within the well operations team.
•    Coordinate with local authorities and environmental agencies to ensure compliance and foster positive relationships.
•    Engage community stakeholders in discussions about environmental practices and impact mitigation.

 

Critical Skills, Qualifications, Experience, etc. :
Technical Skills:
•    In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations applicable to oil and gas well operations.
•    Proficient in the use of environmental monitoring and compliance software.
•    Experience with GIS tools for environmental impact analysis.
Non-Technical Skills:
•    Strong communication and negotiation skills to effectively interact with regulatory bodies.
•    Ability to lead cross-functional teams towards achieving compliance and sustainability goals.
•    Proactive in identifying potential environmental issues and developing effective solutions.
Professional Experience:
•    Background in environmental management within the oil and gas industry, with specific experience in offshore and onshore well operations.
•    Demonstrated ability to manage complex environmental compliance projects.
•    Familiarity with international environmental standards and best practices in the oil and gas sector.
Education:
•    Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
Language:
•    English: Proficient (written and spoken).
•    Spanish: Intermediate or above.
