Purpose of Role:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of total rewards strategies aligned with corporate HR policies, ensuring competitive compensation and benefits across Harbour Energy’s Mexico operations.
  • Align reward systems with business objectives to attract, retain, and motivate employees while supporting organizational growth.
  • Direct the assessment and restructuring of existing rewards programs, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and cross‑functional teams to integrate compensation, benefits, payroll, and mobility seamlessly into broader business functions.
  • Define and manage compensation and benefits policies that enhance employee satisfaction and productivity, while ensuring cost efficiency and compliance.
  • Oversee payroll‑related reward processes, including profit‑sharing (PTU), expatriate shadow payrolls, and workforce cost planning, ensuring integration with total rewards strategy.
  • Ensure proper and effective HR administration, maintaining accurate employee data and HR reporting in SAP for internal and external purposes.

  • Ensures all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.

 

Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.

 

Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:

 

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the design and implementation of comprehensive reward strategies tailored to organizational goals and workforce dynamics.
  • Oversee evaluation and benchmarking of compensation packages against industry standards to maintain competitiveness.
  • Drive adoption of innovative reward mechanisms that align with evolving business and employee needs.
  • Define metrics and analytics to assess effectiveness of reward programs and make data‑driven adjustments.
  • Provide compensation package recommendations for new hires, promotions, and salary changes, ensuring consistency and equity.
  • Manage total compensation processes, including salary surveys, to ensure market competitiveness and internal equity.

 

Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure all reward programs adhere to legal and regulatory frameworks, minimizing risk and ensuring compliance.
  • Continuously monitor legislative changes that could impact compensation, benefits, payroll, and mobility strategies.
  • Develop and implement internal controls and audits to maintain integrity and accuracy of reward programs.
  • Report payroll moves and validates their correct application in each payroll cycle.

 

People Management

  • Manage a team of Total Reward specialist, Payroll Specialists and Mobility setting clear objectives and overseeing performance management and support career development.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to direct reports, fostering growth and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee workload distribution and resource planning to ensure departmental targets are met efficiently.
  • Organize and conduct meetings with employees to communicate employment policy, benefits, and compensation.

 

Mobility Management

  • Manage international assignments to and from Mexico, ensuring compliance with expatriate policies, tax regulations, and corporate standards.
  • Provide support and guidance to employees on mobility packages, benefits, and relocation processes

 

Critical Skills*, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:

 

Technical Skills

  • Expert knowledge in total rewards management, including salary structures, bonus programs, benefits administration, and incentive design.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems (SAP) to manage compensation, benefits, and payroll data.
  • Skilled in quantitative and financial analysis related to employee compensation, benefits, and payroll.
  • Strong knowledge of Mexican payroll regulations, profit‑sharing (PTU), social security, and expatriate mobility frameworks.

 

Non-Technical Skills

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive strategic decisions across the organization.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating compensation and benefits strategies to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability in managing teams, focusing on mentoring and development.

 

Professional Experience

  • +12 years of progressive experience in total rewards, compensation, payroll, and mobility management within multinational corporate environments.
  • Track record of developing and implementing successful compensation strategies aligned with business objectives and corporate policies.
  • Experience navigating complex regulatory environments and ensuring compliance.
  • Experience managing payroll‑linked reward processes, including international payrolls, cross‑border compliance, and multi‑currency structures.
  • Experience managing international mobility programs and expatriate assignments.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred

 

Language

  • English: Proficient (written and spoken).
  • Spanish: Fluent
