Purpose of Role:

 

  • Lead the engineering design, planning, and execution of upper and lower completions for the Kan Development Project, ensuring alignment with project objectives, HSES requirements, and industry standards.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality completion operations while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Collaborate closely with the Drilling & Completion Team Lead, Drilling Engineers, Completion Engineers, and service providers to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective completion operations.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to junior completion engineers, fostering team development and competence growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement by implementing best practices, lessons learned, and innovative technologies in completion operations.
  • Act as the project’s technical authority for completion engineering, ensuring that all upper and lower completion designs, operational plans, and execution strategies are technically robust, fully compliant with company standards, regulatory requirements, and international norms, while embedding HSES excellence in every stage of project delivery.

  • Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.

 

Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.

 

Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:

 

  • Lead the design, engineering, preparation, and execution of the upper and lower completion, well intervention strategies, and related studies for the Kan Development Project.
  • Coordinate and actively follow up on offshore completion and workover / intervention operations, ensuring compliance with project plans, service quality standards, and regulatory approvals.
  • Ensure all completion engineering activities comply with company and international standards.
  • Prepare and review completion programs, operational guidelines, well schematics, and cost estimates, ensuring technical robustness and operational efficiency.
  • Interface with other project disciplines (Subsurface, HSE, Facilities, Supply Chain) to ensure integrated planning and execution.
  • Maintain close and regular interactions with Headquarters to ensure alignment with the company’s project delivery process.
  • Manage relationships and technical interfaces with service companies, ensuring delivery of reliable and innovative completion solutions.
  • Support contract strategy, procurement, and evaluation of service providers for completion-related activities.
  • Support in the Management of Change (MoC) processes for completion activities.
  • Participate in readiness reviews, service quality meetings, and risk assessments to safeguard operational integrity and delivery.
  • Conduct post-job evaluations and capture lessons learned to drive continuous improvement across completion operations.
  • Contribute to the development of the BU Mexico Wells department and maintain strong interaction with HQ.

 

Critical Skills*, Qualifications, Experience:

 

  • Education level of Bachelor/Master Degree in Petroleum Engineering or related.
  • Between 10 to 20 years of relevant experience in completion engineering and operations.
  • Relevant experience with offshore completion projects, ideally including knowledge of well testing, single and multi-zone sand control completion e.g. OHGP, CHGP, HRWP and CHFP, and artificial lift technologies.
  • Experience in preparing upper and lower completion design, Xmas tree design, and completion operational plans liaising with service partners.
  • Experience in interacting with local authorities (SENER, ASEA).
  • Knowledge of all relevant local regulations and standards
  • Good experience of well planning software like StressCheck, WellCat, WellPlan as well as completion design and frac simulation software
  • Good experience in completion procurement processes
  • Track-record of technical understanding of development completion, HSE, field operations and commercial aspects
  • Good business awareness and commercial understanding.
