Purpose of Role:
· The Sr. Risk Coordinator supports the systematic identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring of project risks across all phases of offshore oil and gas developments. The role ensures that project risks are visible, understood, and actively managed in line with company risk management frameworks, project governance requirements, and industry best practices.
Critical Responsibilities (MAE/MATTE/HSES):
· Responsible for risk management within project execution and deliverables
· Implement and maintain a risk register with regular identification and mitigation plans for the project
· Ensure that all necessary risk assessment activities are being performed on a regular basis (discipline risk meetings and project risk management meetings), including a proper closing of the risk reducing activities.
Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:
· Act in full alignment with the company’s Ethics and Compliance framework and complete all required compliance training.
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:
· Coordinate the implementation of the project risk management process in accordance with corporate and project‑specific requirements.
· Maintain the project risk register, ensuring risks, mitigations, owners, and statuses are current and auditable.
· Support the application of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment methodologies (e.g., risk matrices, bowties, qualitative risk analysis support where applicable).
· Ensure alignment of project risks with schedule, cost, HSES, Quality, regulatory, and operational risk domains.
· Plan, facilitate, and document risk identification and risk review workshops across project phases (Select, Define, Execute, Commissioning).
· Coordinate cross‑discipline inputs from Engineering, Drilling & Wells, HSES, Quality, Operations, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Contractors.
· Track and follow up on risk mitigation actions to closure.
· Interface closely with schedule and cost risk activities, ensuring risk impacts are reflected in project schedules, cost estimates, and contingencies.
· Support integration between risk registers, change management, and decision‑making processes.
· Prepare risk dashboards and reports for project management, steering committees, and JV partners.
· Highlight key risk trends, emerging risks, and critical risk exposure requiring management attention.
· Support decision gates and assurance reviews by ensuring risk information is complete and consistent.
· Coordinate risk inputs from FEED, EPC, EPCI, and offshore construction contractors.
· Support alignment of contractor risk registers with the overall project risk profile.
· Interface with JV partners and internal assurance functions as required.
Critical Skills, Qualifications, Experience, etc. :
Technical Skills
· Solid knowledge of risk management frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 31000).
· Understanding of offshore oil & gas development projects, including subsea, topsides, FPSO or fixed platform developments.
· Familiarity with project management and Stage‑Gate processes.
· Experience working with risk registers, risk matrices, and mitigation tracking tools
Non-Technical Skills
· Strong facilitation skills, particularly for multidisciplinary risk workshops.
· Clear and structured written and verbal communication, suitable for management and technical audiences.
· Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional, multicultural project teams.
· High attention to detail with strong follow‑up and action‑tracking capability.
· Professional judgment, integrity, and confidence to challenge and escalate risks when required.
· Proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple interfaces and priorities simultaneously.
Professional Experience
· 10 years of experience in risk management, project controls or project support roles in the Oil and Gas industry
· Demonstrated experience supporting offshore oil and gas development project (E&P, facilities or production) – Experience in FPSO projects considered and advantage
· Exposure to FEED, EPC/EPCI, offshore execution, or commissioning phases is an advantage. · PIMS risk considered and advantage
Education
· Bsc. On relevant engineering background
· Msc. On relevant engineering background considered and advantage.
· PMI – Risk Management Professional (RMP) certification considered and advantage.
Languages
· Fluent in English
· Fluent in Spanish (preferably)
