Purpose of Role:
- This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for Harbour Energy’s operations in Mexico, ensuring compliance with local regulations and company policies.
- The Payroll Advisor will work closely with HR and finance teams to coordinate payroll-related data, handle adjustments, and resolve any payroll issues to support operational efficiency.
- By maintaining secure and confidential handling of employee data, this role supports the broader HR department’s objectives to uphold data integrity and ensure employee satisfaction with payroll services.
- The role plays a critical part in ensuring that payroll operations adhere to internal compliance and external regulatory requirements, including tax obligations and labour laws.
Critical Responsibilities (MAE/MATTE/HSES*):
- Ensures all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.
Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:
Payroll Processing
- Execute the end-to-end payroll processing cycle for employees in Mexico.
- Ensure accurate and timely input of payroll data, including hours worked, deductions, and benefits.
- Rectify payroll discrepancies and provide detailed reports on payroll outcomes.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll-related legislation and company policies.
Compliance and Auditing
- Maintain payroll compliance with local tax laws and employment regulations.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Address and resolve any queries related to payroll from employees or regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits.
Data Management and Reporting
- Maintain confidential employee payroll records securely.
- Prepare and submit reports on payroll activities and statistics to management.
- Utilize payroll systems to ensure data integrity and streamline payroll operations.
- Support HR and finance by providing payroll data for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
Critical Skills*, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:
Technical Skills
- Proficient in payroll software and systems, with a strong understanding of automated payroll processing.
- Familiarity with Mexico’s payroll regulations, labour laws, and tax requirements.
Non-Technical Skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills, capable of handling sensitive information discreetly.
Professional Experience
- Experience in payroll administration, preferably within the oil & gas industry.
- Track record of accurate, timely payroll processing in a corporate environment, including management of payroll adjustments, deductions, and statutory submissions.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
Language
- English: proficient (written and spoken).
- Spanish: proficient (written and spoken).
