Purpose of Role:
- To ensure the effective integration of geological and geophysical expertise into drilling operations by acting as the key liaison between the Subsurface and Drilling Teams. This includes supervising operations geology activities, ensuring compliance with the Business Management System, and delivering high-quality geological input for well planning, execution, and evaluation. The role aims to mitigate subsurface risks, optimize data acquisition and management, and support environmental and regulatory requirements, thereby contributing to safe, efficient, and technically sound drilling projects.
Critical Responsibilities (MAE/MATTE/HSES*):
- Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.
Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:
Well Planning & Geological Input

- Act as a key contributor in multi-disciplinary well planning teams, delivering geological summaries, offset well reviews, and pore pressure/fracture gradient and temperature analyses.
- Compile and lead geological prognoses and supplementary programs, integrating all necessary data and technologies to meet well objectives.
- Collaborate closely with the drilling team to align casing points, section TDs, and data acquisition operations with geological objectives and contingencies.
Operational Oversight & Communication

- Serve as the single point of contact between office-based staff and geological service providers on the rig (wellsite geologists, mud loggers, LWD/wireline logging, coring contractors).
- Supervise operations geology activities, including preparation of comprehensive well programs and real-time monitoring during drilling.
- Participate in daily operational meetings and arrange G&G information sessions as needed.
Data Management & Quality Control

- Ensure and lead quality control and timely availability of daily reports and geological data (real-time and static) to all stakeholders.
- Manage geological data systems, including setup of real-time data access for license partners and project members.
- Oversee the transfer of well data to office IT systems and ensure proper sample and core storage and distribution to laboratories.
Risk & Compliance

- Assess subsurface hazards and drilling risks, supporting mandatory requirements such as pore pressure and temperature predictions.
- Contribute to environmental impact assessments and ensure compliance with Harbour Energy HSEQ Policies and Business Management System (BMS).
Vendor & Contract Management

- Liaise, and lead with vendors to ensure high-quality and timely geological services.
Participate in the contracting and tendering process for wellsite geologists and other geological service providers.
Critical Skills*, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:
Education (Level of educational required)

- University degree within a geoscience discipline.
- Master’s degree is desirable.
Professional Experience (Required experience in a clearly definable field of activity and total years)
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in offshore operations.
Technical Skills (Special Technical knowledge: As: Software. Law knowledge, standards knowledge, etc.)

- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
- Strong geological/geophysical (technical) background
- Must have a sound understanding of offshore drilling activities
- Proven experience in wellsite geology is of advantage
- Able to manage reports (e.g. Wellsite Geologist) and 3rd party vendors
- Proficient understanding of pore pressure analysis
- Has basic knowledge of project management tools and techniques
Non-Technical Skills (It refers to soft skills: i.e. leadership, management skills, negotiation, communication, etc.)
