Purpose of Role:
- Lead the drilling and completion engineering team assigned to the Kan Development Project
- Provide direction, alignment, and integration across all drilling and completion activities, ensuring strong interfaces with subsurface, operations, facilities, and HSES.
- Oversee well planning and execution, including cost estimating, D&C design, and operational execution planning, to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality wells.
- Support procurement and contracting activities by providing technical guidance on strategies, tender preparation, and contractor performance management.
- Demonstrate commitment to excellent HSES performance by embedding a strong safety culture and ensuring full compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned, applying best practices, and leveraging technology and innovation to optimize drilling and completion performance.

- Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.
Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:
- Lead the drilling and completion engineering team in the planning, design, and execution of wells, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery, reporting to the Wells Manager – Kan Development Project.
- Prepare and validate drilling and completion programs, cost estimates, and operational execution plans in alignment with project objectives and schedules.
- Ensure that all drilling and completion activities comply with all company standards, regulatory requirements, and HSES policies.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers, contractors, and service providers to ensure best practices and performance optimization.
- Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned, applying industry best practices, and embedding them in future well designs and execution strategies.
- Collaborate with procurement to support the tender strategy, technical and commercial evaluations, tendering, and contractor management.
- Oversee QA/QC of service providers’ equipment, services, and operational deliverables, ensuring reliability and readiness.
- Manage interfaces with subsurface, facilities, HSES, procurement, and other project stakeholders to ensure integrated and aligned well planning and operation delivery.
- Lead technical the Management of Change (MoC) process for all drilling and completion activities.
- Contribute to the development of the team capability through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and technical coaching.
- Contribute to the continuous development of the BU Mexico wells department and maintain strong interaction with HQ.
Critical Skills*, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:
Education (Required Educational Level)
- B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent study.
- Well Control Level 4 certificate.
Professional Experience (Required experience in a clearly definable field of activity and total years)
- Minimum 10 years of relevant drilling and completion experience, ideally gained with operators (Mexican NOC and IOCs).
- Demonstrate experience in leading, mentoring, and coaching drilling and completion engineers.
- Proven technical expertise in the planning and execution of offshore drilling, completion, and well intervention/P&A operations, across shallow and deepwater environments.
- Prior experience in Mexican offshore field development projects or similar regulatory/operating environments.
- Prior experience in the exploration and appraisal well drilling of the Kan field.
- Strong track record of delivering wells safely, on time, and within budget, while driving continuous improvement and innovation.
Technical Skills (Special Technical knowledge: As: Software. Law knowledge, standards knowledge, etc.)
- Good knowledge of relevant regulations and standards
- Extensive experience with well planning and well planning software e.g. WELLPLAN, WELLCAT, STRESSCHECK, COMPASS
- Sound technical understanding of development and exploration wells construction, HSE, field operations and commercial aspects
- Good business awareness and commercial understanding
