Purpose of Role:
- Accountant responsible for overseeing the accounts payable process, from invoice approval to the timely payment of all invoices received from vendors and employees. Investigate and resolve payment issues independently and proactively, always seeking continuous improvement in the daily process.
Critical Responsibilities (MAE/MATTE/HSES*):
- Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.
Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:
- Ensure the proper recording of invoices
- Reconcile payments with accounting records and bank statements
- Verify that payment approvals are obtained in accordance with the company’s internal procedures and controls
- Monitor payment due dates to ensure payments are made according to the suppliers’ credit terms
- Investigate and reconcile payment issues
- Estimate weekly cash needs
- Control employee advances and ensure that each advance is supported by an invoice
- Ensure that received invoices meet tax requirements and company controls
- Prepare weekly payment proposals
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations: accounts payable and employees
- Respond to suppliers and internal clients in a timely manner
- Support timely submissions to the consortium, CNH, government reports, and audits
- Provide information to the tax team for tax calculation purposes
Critical Skills*, Qualifications, Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Certified Public Accountant
- English – Advanced
- Over 7 years of experience in accounts payable processes specialized in energy sector.
- Knowledge of General Accounting
- ERP usage (preferably SAP)
- Excel: tables, formulas, charts
- Experience in the energy industry and related laws (Hydrocarbons Law)
- Ability to communicate with the team
- Customer Service Orientation
- Ability to build effective and constructive relationships
- Capacity to multitask and willingness to learn new skills
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
