Purpose of Role:

Provides expert technical assistance, including peer reviews and peer assists both internally and externally as required. Manages the Wells functional team in carrying out wells assurance when necessary. Provides highly skilled Well Engineering input to CCUS teams on developing technical solutions and early-stage well delivery activities to assist in progressing these projects. Co-opted into M&A teams to assess new ventures and ensure well engineering risks and opportunities are captured. Ensures wells costs are representative and benchmarked to relevant offset data.

 

Critical Responsibilities:

  • Provides expert technical knowledge of Drilling Engineering issues to support Global Drilling Engineering and Operations, including projects that have complex risks/issues and require new highly specialised innovative technical solutions.
  • Directs the capture and development of global drilling best practices and leads the process of sharing across the Company’s BUs.
  • Utilises technical expertise and complex problem-solving skills to lead peer reviews and peer assists both internally and externally as required.

 

Global Drilling Assurance:

  • Manages Global Drilling & Completions Assurance activities, when requested by the Chief Engineers.
  • Directs the necessary technical assurance for the required gates in the SGS/WDP for all Global drilling and completion operations.
  • Provides conceptual problem-solving skills to ensure that value creation solutions are identified, optimised, and implemented across all stages of the assurance process.
  • Drives the application of new ideas/technologies to enhance value creation for the business.

 

M&A Activities:

  • Manages the Wells input (internal and external) into Corporate M&A projects in a cross-disciplinary team to evaluate M&A opportunities.
  • Leads the development of due diligence activities for any corporate M&A projects, including benchmarking, cost estimating, risk analysis, and opportunity ranking.

 

CCUS Activities:

  • Provides expert technical knowledge of drilling engineering activities to Corporate CCUS projects in the early stages of the Well Delivery Process.
  • Works with external stakeholders to advance technical knowledge and solutions for CO2-related well engineering challenges.

 

Critical Skills:

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Major O&G Operator trained Drilling or Completion Engineering background.
  • Significant experience in drilling/completion design and operations with the behaviours to influence BU Well Engineering teams and represent HE externally.
  • Champions innovation and is a forward thinker on the appropriate application of new ideas, processes, and technology.
  • Able to analyse and assimilate complex issues with limited data quickly to draw meaningful strategic conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to deal calmly and effectively with high-stress situations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; experience in presenting information to a variety of internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to influence diverse stakeholders internally and externally across multiple cultures.
  • Able to enthuse and develop technical staff.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain all International required offshore visitor qualifications/certification.
