Purpose of the Role: 

  • As an aspiring HR professional, you will contribute to building inclusive, high-performing workplace by supporting Harbour’s strategic people initiatives and fostering employee engagement.
  • This role will include learning and applying HR principles to real-world challenges, to grow into a trusted partner who champions talent development, organisational culture, and continuous improvement.
  • You will gain hands-on experience across key HR functions, such as Talent & Culture, Global Reward and HR Business Partnering, collaborating with key stakeholders and teams within and out with HR to develop the skills necessary to make a meaningful impact on both employee experience and business outcomes.

Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures

 

Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:

Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.

 

Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:

The graduate programme is a two-year scheme where you will be required to rotate through various HR specialisms supporting in various activities specialised to each area.  Your will be expected to:

  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES procedures.
  • Support with recruitment and onboarding which will include guiding Managers through the recruitment process, screening CVs, supporting the interview process, reviewing paperwork and supporting the onboarding process.
  • Provide HR reporting & analytics, procure, assimilate and analyse key HR data, to providing business insights. Manage confidentiality, integrity and accuracy of any data within your responsibility.
  • Working with the Talent & Culture team support the development of internal learning and development materials to address skills gaps.  Champion the talent and performance processes.  Working with engagement practitioners support culture and wellbeing initiatives to strengthen Harbour’s culture. 
  • Strengthen experience of employee relations.  Support with employees queries and escalating issues.  Support with investigations and grievance and disciplinary processes where applicable. 

 

Critical Skills, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:

Relevant Experience: Some knowledge of HR activities or a placement in a HR department is preferred but not essential.  

  • Academic Qualifications: Degree in relevant field or relevant experience; further education or certifications in HR preferred.
  • Strong Emotional Intelligence: Strong self-awareness, empathy and the ability to understand and manage interpersonal dynamics.
  • Problem solving mindset: Analytical thinking and a proactive approach to resolving HR challenges.  Ability to interrogate qualitative and quantitative date to inform continuous improvement.
  • Adaptability: comfortable with ambiguity and change, especially in fast-paced environments.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships across HR and the business
  • Confidentiality & Integrity: Trustworthiness in handling sensitive employee information
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with and influencing stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.  
  • Influencing and negotiation: Persuasive skills to advocate for HR initiatives and mediate conflicts.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong project and programme management skills, with the ability to design, implement, and manage effective HR programmes.
