Purpose of Role:
- Support the Data Architecture and Governance Manager in delivering the enterprise-wide data strategy and governance framework.
- Lead the newly established Data Governance Office, ensuring its effective operation and alignment with organisational goals.
- Facilitate the implementation (including creation) of data governance policies, standards, and procedures across business units.
- Promote and embed data stewardship practices, ensuring accountability and ownership of data assets.
- Champion data quality, integrity, and compliance through proactive monitoring and reporting.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance data literacy and foster a culture of responsible data usage.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of data architecture models and documentation.
- Provide operational support for data governance tools, platforms, and workflows.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the data architecture and governance function.
- Act as a key point of contact for governance-related queries, audits, and escalations
Critical Responsibilities (MAE/MATTE/HSES):
Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures
Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:
Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:
- Support the Data Architecture and Governance Manager in the day-to-day operation of the function, contributing to the delivery of KPIs and SLAs.
- Administer the newly established Data Governance Office, developing new standards and processes with the business, whilst ensuring existing processes, tools, and frameworks are effectively implemented and maintained.
- Act as a key liaison between business units and the Data Governance Office to promote data stewardship and accountability.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of data architecture principles, standards, and best practices.
- Support the implementation of data governance practices including data quality, metadata management, and data lineage.
- Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with enterprise-wide data strategy.
- Contribute to the evaluation and adoption of data management technologies and platforms.
- Promote a culture of data literacy and responsible data usage across the organisation.
- Provide input into the continuous optimisation and simplification of data architecture and governance processes.
- Maintain documentation and reporting for governance activities, including compliance tracking and audit support.
Critical Skills, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:
- Solid understanding of data architecture and governance principles, with hands-on experience in data management practices.
- Experience in administering data governance frameworks and developing or contributing to documented controls.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with cloud data technologies, preferably Azure.
- Familiarity with data governance tools (Microsoft Purview, or other)
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Exposure to data transformation initiatives and change management.
