Purpose of Role

  • Supervise execution of work programs to deliver safe and efficient well operations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and procedures.
  • Drive performance and continuous improvement in executing our Drilling & Well Operations
  • Support the After Action Review process to ensure these are undertaken and operational lessons and improvements are captured, communicated and implemented as applicable.
  • Collaborate and drive the One Team approach. 

 

Area of Accountability, Responsibity & Competence

  • Performance of task in accordance with the interface/bridging document with the contracting companies.
  • Responsible for implementing the supplementary safety monitoring obligation for all service companies operating on the well and in the location area.
  • Responsible for checking validity of risk assessments for all well related and cross-service work.
  • Responsible for checking the application and correct implementation of the work permit system specified in the interface/bridging document.
  • Responsible for initiating and conducting briefings, JSAs, safety meeting for service relevant tasks
  • Responsible for maintaining the logistics chain on the land well and for compliance with applicable transport regulations within the project timeframe.
  • Ensuring the correct registration/deregistration of logistics/transports by the service department in the applicable logistics system on Mittelplate.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of all equipment / rig equipment , including contractors and well location/site.
  • Participation in the preparation of risk assessments, if necessary, for conditions/activities requiring special consideration.
  • Responsible for reporting events (e.g incident reporting, observations) in the specified systems and participation in event investigations.
  • Compliance with the relevant instructions as per company BMS for the execution of drilling operations and HSES on the drilling rig / platform / well location.
  • Co-responsible for maintaining primary well control and, if necessary, restoring it in cooperation with the rig contractor and superintendent.
  • Responsible to ensure presence of specified borehole barriers during project execution.
  • Participation in planning activities / meetings during the well delivery process.
  • Support the engineering and operations team in the selection of drilling tools and assemblies.
  • Responsible, in close cooperation with the drilling engineer, for mobilisation of the drilling tools and materials from service providers.
  • Inspection of received drilling equipment and materials and reporting of observed defects to the operations team.
  • Responsible for reporting the well activities in the daily report in coordination with the responsible drilling engineer.
  • Responsible for compliance with the operating plan (Sonderbetriebsplan – SBP) and Mining Authority Regulations.
  • Responsible for initiating and monitoring of removal of drill cuttings, waste fluids and hazardous materials for disposal/storage.
  • Responsible, in collaboration with the drilling engineer, for preparation of reports related to casing/liner running and cementing operations.
  • Reporting of non-conformities and participation in the NCR process.

 

Skills, Qualification & Experience

  • BSc degree in petroleum engineering or similar relevant education required. MSc preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years relevant international experience in well engineering and drilling operations, min. 5 years as Sr. Drilling Supervisor.
  • Relevant experience and technical understanding of planning and execution of onshore / offshore platform drilling, completion and P&A operations.
  • Good knowledge for regulations and relevant standards.
  • Sound technical understanding of development drilling, HSES and field operations
  • Committed to company HSES policy and principles. An ambassador and role model for HSES.
  • Leadership and culture building skills.
  • Worked in diverse geographical settings preferably gained whilst working for/with a variety of Operators/Contractors;
  • ​A self-starter with a flexible approach to work requirements and an ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Proven well control equipment and procedures understanding – holds IWCF level 4 certification.
  • Offshore medical certification and valid offshore safety training to be able to work on Mittelplate.
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills
  • German: fluent oral and written required
