Purpose of the Role: 

The Solutions Architect for Business Applications at Harbour Energy is a strategic role within the Business Applications Product team, focused on bridging the gap between the business and technology by developing scalable and future-ready architecture in close cooperation with Product team and business stakeholders.

 

Key Purposes: 

  • Proactively support the development of Harbour Energy’s Business Applications Product portfolio, including projects, systems (applications, data, technologies, processes, and information), and shared infrastructure.
  • Focus exclusively on Business Applications, collaborating closely with the Product Manager across the Product Portfolio.
  • Work with the Product Manager and the business to understand business goals, objectives, outcomes, capabilities, value-streams, and processes to provide, analysis, and design tasks for developing technology solutions that meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards.
  • Create deliverables for managing the organisation’s Products Portfolio relating to required business capabilities.   
  • Delivery of “Baseline” and “Target” architectures highlighting business value and benefits.

 

Critical Responsibilities: 

Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures.

 

Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:

Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required.

 

Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:

  • Collaborate with the Product Manager to engage business stakeholders and align delivery outcomes with strategic roadmaps.
  • Document business capabilities, practices, and processes using agreed tools for business change modelling.
  • Design and architect solutions to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical expertise for application architecture and design.
  • Work with peer solution architects to ensure alignment with platform roadmaps.
  • Stay informed about emerging technology trends and apply them to support evolving business models.
  • Evaluate opportunities and develop business cases for new initiatives.
  • Develop solutions to innovate and enhance the Product portfolio.
  • Adhere to enterprise architecture principles, guidelines, standards, and solution patterns.
  • Facilitate the evaluation and selection of software product standards and services.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives.
  • Work closely with the Product Manager to develop a roadmap for the evolution of the Product line portfolio.
  • Foster relationships with industry peers and key partners to stay informed about strategies and trends.

 

Critical Skills, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:

  • Proven experience as a Solutions Architect, with a focus on aligning IT strategy with business goals.
  • Strong industry and domain-specific knowledge relating to Oil and Gas applications and technologies.
  • Strong understanding of business processes, IS infrastructure, and software development lifecycles.
  • Ability to think strategically and relate architectural decisions and recommendations to business strategy, priorities.
  • Experience in the development and use of solution architecture frameworks, patterns, and best practices to drive business transformation.
  • Deep technical knowledge of common Oil and Gas applications and systems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to Oil and Gas.
  • Experience in modelling and analysing complex systems and processes using various frameworks with a preference towards TOGAF.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Ability to evaluate critical decisions related to the architecture of the enterprise and challenge assumptions.
