Job Role: Senior Systems Accountant

Job Level: 30

Work Location: Aberdeen 

Department: Finance & Business Services

 

Purpose of Role:

•    Provide systems support to the UK Business Unit.  Transactional system support including but not limited to master-data creation and month end processing will be performed from Group Finance

 

Critical Responsibilities (MAE/MATTE/HSES):

•    Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Harbour Energy HSES Procedures

 

Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:

•    Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Harbour Energy’s Ethics and Compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required

 

Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:

Direct SAP Support
•    SAP FI/CO/JV Improvements: Independently monitor and enhance the UKBU SAP FI/CO/JV processes, coordinate business requirements, and support testing and rollouts of enhancements  
•    Financial Process Optimisation: Independently analyse and document existing financial processes, identify improvement opportunities, and design forward-looking, digital solutions. 
•    Collaboration & Interface Management: Participate in collaboration on behalf of UK Finance with other internal BU and Corporate departments (SCM, IS, EMS, Skills Network) sharing best practice and improvement opportunities
•    Training & End-User Support: Deliver training sessions and workshops, support end users in daily operations, and contribute to the long-term use of SAP solutions.  
•    Quality Assurance & Compliance: Monitor UK Finance data for quality and compliance with internal controls, presenting solutions and enhancements
•    Change Management in Projects: Lead change initiatives within UK Finance projects and contribute to the successful implementation of new solutions.  
•    ER Allowance - The postholder may be required to join the emergency response rota should this become a requirement of the position.  

•    Academic Qualification: University degree or equivalent professional experience; additional certifications are an advantage.  
•    Professional Experience:  Extensive experience with SAP and ERP systems – in particular, JV experience
•    Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of accounting and reporting, particularly in the oil and gas industry.  Strong analytical skills and experience with financial systems. 
•    Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage confidently at all levels of the organisation.  
•    Service & Solution Orientation: High customer focus, flexibility in dynamic environments, and the ability to deliver high-quality results under pressure.  
•    Delivery: Independent, reliable working style and the ability to manage tasks through to completion.  
•    Business Awareness: Familiarity with Harbour Energy’s HSEQ policies and Business Management System (BMS), and strong alignment with the company’s values and business principles.
